Potter Valley AVA
Designated as an AVA in 1983, Potter Valley is a secluded, agricultural valley about 6 miles long, running North to South. It is a subset of the Mendocino AVA, located in the North-East part of the county. Bordered on the west by the Redwood Valley AVA and on the east by the Lake County AVA, the valley has a distinct characteristic. Its unique features include a high elevation, 1,000 feet above sea level on average and strong diurnal temperature variation. The most common varietals grown in the valley are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
